...And Too Hot in the Garage. Okay, okay. So Mark Chestnut didn't sing it exactly like that. For a while now it's just been way too hot in the garage to do any upcycled birdhouses or anything else. So, I figured I would talk up some of the young birds that followed in their parent's footsteps and joined me in the backyard. Let me first introduce to you a nice little Tufted Titmouse. It's been a welcomed visitor lately because it's been pretty sparse as far as new visitors lately.
Next up is a young Mockingbird. They've been pretty amusing finding their way around the yard deciding what's good and what they don't care for. They do like the discarded apples like the parents.
Here is a small family of Carolina Wrens. The Wrens are pretty much the most amusing bird I have to come by and visit. Very inquisitive and they tend to not mind you coming too close. They are always up to something. The photo is not crisp but I had to hurry and try to get the young ones here hollering at the mother to feed them. They made quite a scene for a week or so until they finally starting eating on their own.
Here you can see one of the young Robins exploring the scene. I'm pretty sure this is one of the four that hatched from the nest that was built on the back of our basketball goal. They are really colorful and have a beautiful pattern when they are young.
And lastly, you see here a young Blue Jay. And they are just as cocky as their parents. And they tend to have some bad hair issues all the while. They think they run the place, but it's fun to watch what they do strutting around the feeders and landscaping.
So here's to wishing for cooler temperatures and a ton of slow rain and new migratory friends to stop by in the months ahead.
