I figured it was time for another bird photo post so I guess why not feature one of my dedicated visitors year round.
The Mourning Dove. They are the most tolerable of my winged visitors. Unless you spook them or get really close, they tend to just go about their business pecking the ground for the next morsel. And if you're really still, they'll walk up pretty close and put up with your presence. The Eurasian Collared Doves don't allow such close contact.
Lately, in the evenings, some will perch at the top of the roof and soon enough strut down the roof bobbing their necks with each step and sit at the ledge before flying down to graze.
So here's a small tribute to one of my few visitors during this extremely hot and dry summer.
