Hot Rod Chevy Birdhouse with Metal Toy Pieces

This one was really fun through all the building of this birdhouse.  Gotta love a car themed birdhouse made out of an old galvanized gas can.

You can see more pics of this birdhouse along with my other projects in the (PHOTO GALLERY).

I started this birdhouse with one of my favorite objects -- an old galvanized gas can! I use some copper segmented to wrap the inside top of the birdhole. I then modified a paper plate/face of an antique typewriter for the bottom wrap on the front (Underwood). Some old pieces of a brass fireplace screen fan piece were used on the sides going up. Then came the use of several dissected pieces from a broken metal Chevy Bel-Aire toy car. The hood is the awning and the back side panels are the shutters. Two wheels are used as a perch and as a spout top. On the back I created the look of a back fender or bumper by modifying a piece of a napkin ring and using old metal light panel indicators. A piece of an old license plate completed the look. For the footing, I used an antique enamelware / porcelainware bowl. Some careful grinding on the top surface brought out some of the nice features.
