Repurposed Galvanized & Silverplate Parts Water Fountain
After a much needed break, I'm back in the saddle! One of my latest projects was creating a water fountain. I've been wanting to make one for a while, but was waiting for a good sized basin to catch and circulate all the water. The basin finally revealed itself and the work began!
My first thought was to for the structure was the top and making it into one of my metal birdhouse structures with the water spilling out. Done. The next was getting some elevation which I achieved with a galvanized well water catch. The water pools going down are a silverplate gravy boat and a serving bowl that acts like a sink basin then down to another silverplate gravy boat.
I used threaded rods for lamps as my attaching rods so that I could adjust the distance from the post to catch the water just right since all water pumps would circulate the water at different rates.
The large silverplate bowl was actually the start to one of my metal birdhouses, but it just wasn't working for me so it found a better home on this fountain.
I've heard that brass crickets on your mantle bring good luck so I figured some luck on this water fountain wouldn't hurt.
The deep structure of the gravy boats worked well to catch and then dispense the water flow.
The large galvanized basin was perfect to catch all the water and provide a home for the large milk can/jug.
And here's a video of the fountain in full motion:
