Here's the latest and greatest of the upcycled birdhouses...
This particular birdhouse was a long time coming. First I created the two birdhole entrances and it sat for a while on one of my work shelves as the creative juices stirred on it. I then cut and installed a piece of nice, custom wood to create a divider between both sides on the interior. Some handles from old, vintage cheese graters made the perfect perches. Luckily I had just the right pieces of MATCHING patterns of vintage enamel porcelain pieces. What luck!!! I then used some pieces from an old brass firescreen to create the custom, modern-styled awning over the entrances. That was some pretty tough shaping! A small red watch face is at center on the bottom platform. I fashioned a fastening system out of copper wire and some modified wire hooks to fasten the top lid down super snug while still providing the opportunity to get the structure open.
****************This birdhouse can be used in three ways: HUNG/SUSPENDED, DISPLAYED or AS A STORAGE/KEEPSAKE PIECE with the top loose.
