I hope everyone is having or had a great Valentine's Day. I got outdoors for a bit to see what would fly through the yard. It was a pretty good day. The colder days with good cloud cover have really gotten the birds to feed more. Here are my totals for about 45 minutes of observing and some pics from the session...
Mourning Dove 7; Red-Bellied Woodpecker 1; Downy Woodpecker 1; Blue Jay 7; Carolina Chickadee 1; Carolina Wren 1; Northern Mockingbird 3; Dark-Eyed Junco 7; Northern Cardinal 4; Red-Winged Blackbird 18; Common Grackle 5; Brown-Headed Cowbird 6; House Finch 7; American Goldfinch 19; House Sparrow 8.
Carolina Wren...finally stayed still for just a moment. It was inspecting everything -- everywhere.
Dark-Eyed Junco (female)...she was inside the flowerbed while the male below searched outside of it.
Dark-Eyed Junco (male)...so glad to get more of these guys. They don't come close very often.
Goldfinch...telling me that one of my feeding stations is empty.
Goldfinch and House Finch...I thought it was great having them both in the same photo.
Goldfinches at their usual hangout...
Goldfinch...seems that he's admiring the height of the situation.
Goldfinch...posing for me.
Grackle striking a pose...with its flashy deep blue.
Red-Winged Blackbird (female)...excited to get a photo of one with the red on display around the beak.
