Despite the hours and hours (and money) I've invested in the backyard, the lantana at the front door is the spot of choice for the butterfly visitors that I've started documenting so far. Should I give them directions to go around the house?
Anyway, today we were visited by an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterfly as my son was coming home from school. I'm pretty sure it's the Eastern and not the Western version after many, many images and comparison.
I think this one is a female because the blue at the base of the wing pattern is more prevalent. I could be wrong though. She never would open her wings for me to get a "pinned" position photo. Just glad she decided to come by.
